霍亚-德赛伦考古遗址这个保存下来的村庄使我们能够对生活在1400年以前玛雅人的生活有所了解，这里有一座小的博物馆描述了玛雅人的日常生活。查尔丘阿帕镇包含五个小遗址，这里都在不同的程度上展示了哥伦布发现新大陆以前的当地居民的日常生活用品。保留下来的大量的火山灰清晰可见，再加上这个城市是在瞬间被吞噬掉的，从而这处遗址能够将这个古代中美洲的城镇的面貌原封未动的保存下了，栩栩如生的展现了当时人们生活这许多真实的生活画面。 Joya de Cerén was a pre-Hispanic farming community that, like Pompeii and Herculaneum in Italy, was buried under an eruption of the Laguna Caldera volcano c. AD 600. Because of the exceptional condition of the remains, they provide an insight into the daily lives of the Central American populations who worked the land at that time.
